A small kettle with a spout and a handle for boiling water. They are normally placed on a Binkake.

Temae that use a tetsubin:

  • Chabako
  • Ryakubon
  • Chitosebon

    If the lid has a small hole to let steam out, the lid is not placed half open in the beginning and end of the temae. Instead it stays on during the whole procedure.
